What You'll Be Doing Wake County Health and Human Services is seeking a Public Health Workforce Project Coordinator to support the implementation and coordination of key workforce initiatives under the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). This position plays a pivotal role in organizing and executing programs that strengthen the public health workforce, enhance professional development opportunities, and support long-term workforce sustainability. The Project Coordinator will work under the direction of the Public Health Workforce Director and collaborate closely with internal and external partners—including academic institutions, workforce boards, and community organizations—to ensure effective delivery of workforce programs and projects. Essential Functions Include: Facilitates and organizes public health workforce initiatives, including recruitment pipelines, training programs, and professional development activities to build staff readiness and engagement Coordinates the implementation of project plans, monitors progress against established timelines, and ensures deliverables align with grant objectives and reporting requirements Serves as a liaison for internship, mentorship, and experiential learning programs, connecting with colleges, universities, and community partners to expand workforce pathways Supports data collection, evaluation, and reporting related to workforce performance, training participation, and grant-funded outcomes Manages internal and external communications related to workforce projects, including newsletters, promotional materials, and presentations Collaborates with internal departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Clinical Services, Environmental Health) to ensure program alignment and compliance with county and grant guidelines Coordinates logistics for in-person and virtual events, including workshops, trainings, and recognition programs Provides administrative and operational support for project documentation, procurement, contracts, and file management Develops and maintains partnerships with educational institutions, workforce boards, and public health agencies to strengthen recruitment and training pipelines Assists in preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations summarizing project milestones, progress, and outcomes for leadership and funders *This position is Time-Limited (Grant-Funded through 2027) About Our Team At the heart of the Wake County Public Health department is a dedicated team of professionals committed to protecting and improving the health of our community.
